what we do

Primary Level Scholarships

OUR GOAL: Great nations are created by great citizens, and great citizens are built from great backgrounds. We want to build a solid educational background from the most basic of levels, to the most advanced. It’s a journey that begins with a step. Our foundation is the vehicle, and our scholarship; the fuel.

The Problem

After the successful completion of the first Emergency Education Program in 2017, we scouted for Primary schools for our students and came across the following schools:

  • Kuchingoro Primary School
  • Karon-majiji Primary School
  • Science Primary School Kuje
On the visit to Kuje, we found so many existing students who had issues paying their fees, so they kept repeating the same class every year. Then we realized that it would be very important to open up our scholarship to every child, irrespective of their non involvement in our programs.

This birthed the Aham Rochas Foundation Scholarship Fund, and has ever since been our drive and fuels our determination to make a positive impact in the lives of children through education.

Our Solution

The Aham Rochas Foundation Scholarship Fund

The Aham Rochas Scholarship Fund is a separate fund created to carter for the tuition fees of underprivileged children in Nigeria. The Scholarship Fund has been spread through different channels in order to reach as many families as we can. These channels include:

  • Radio (Human Rights Radio, Kiss FM, Love FM, Jordan FM)

Other schools affiliated with the foundation so far include:

  • Mpape Primary School
  • LEA Primary School Dakwa
  • LEA Primary School Maraba
  • Government Primary School Galadimawa
  • Model Primary School Maitama
  • LEA Primary School Piwoyi
  • LEA Primary School Gidan Mangoro

SUMMARY

Findings from our visit to schools in Kuje birthed the Aham Rochas Foundation Scholarship Fund, and has ever since been our drive and fuels our determination to make a positive impact in the lives of children through education.

The Aham Rochas Scholarship Fund is a separate fund created to carter for the tuition fees of underprivileged children in Nigeria.

Radio, Social Media, Affiliate schools are some of the channels through which the scholarship fund reaches out to its prospective beneficiaries.

We have beneficiaries who have progressed from our Emergency Education Program, through Primary school, and are in secondary school at the moment. Some of these EEP groomed beneficiaries have gone ahead, in spite of several limitations, to excel above their peers from more stable backgrounds, and more peaceful localities.

Our Beneficiaries

It has been a fulfilling journey so far

Some of our beneficiaries resume school for the first time in a long time with so much joy and excitement.

Our Strategy

Reintegration
Supervision
Evaluation
Reintegration
Supervision
Evaluation

Reintegration

At our foundation, we believe no child’s schooling should be paused or stopped at any level or time. Our students are prepared for common entrance exams to schools affiliated with the foundation right after the transition program. Level A and Level B students from our Emergency Education Program and other external applicants are put into schools within or close to their living areas. This is to aid swift movement to and from school.

Supervision

The process of reintegration by our teachers and volunteers offers close contact supervision of our students throughout the first year of their reintegration. This supervision is to keep an eye on not just their academic development, but also on their mental state and emotional development.

Due to the fact that some of these students are coming from tragedy rocked backgrounds, it is our duty to ensure that they get the most care and begin to feel like part of a family ; The ARF Family.

Evaluation

At the end of every school year, our team evaluates each child based on their performance in exams, and their behaviour in school. Within the family we host an end of the year get together where the highest performers are given cash prizes and applauded by their fellows.

Except for students transitioning from the Emergency Education Program, the result of this evaluation decides the fate of the scholarship beneficiary, as regards moving to the next class/level on our patronage.
